Eighteen white butterflies dance gracefully around the word Chai (life), each one symbolizing joy, renewal, and freedom. Together, they create a celebration of Jewish life and spirit, where every butterfly represents hope, connection, and the beauty of life.

There's something so magical about the movement and lightness of butterflies that feels so hopeful and free.

What has amazed me and brought such warmth to my heart is the unity that we are seeing in Israel and from communities all over the world. The outpouring of love and readiness to extend a helping hand has gone far beyond anything that I could imagine. The people of Israel are profoundly blessed with an amazing mix of individuals from different backgrounds who are spread all over the world and yet are committed to coming together and loving and protecting each other in times of need, and this is Israel's time of need.

This artwork captures this sentiment I am feeling and is surrounded by the prayer for the State of Israel.

Living here fills me with that same energy. I feel it in the people, the streets, the history, the extreme weather, and the lifestyle. From grief to gratitude, from silence to singing — this land and its people are just incredible.

'Doves of Peace', is a tribute to the progress being made toward peace around the world. We are a people who continually look for peace, even our daily greeting, 'Shalom', means peace. This artwork, through its colorful energy, reaches toward a future filled with more light, more hope, and more peace.

The Hamsa, a symbol of protection, and the number eighteen, representing 'chai' (life) in Jewish tradition, come together in this artwork to embody the protection of life. Each Hamsa is uniquely designed with vibrant colours and intricate patterns, reflecting individuality and character. While each Hamsa stands distinct, together they collectively radiate protection, blessings, and positive energy.

Jerusalem, a timeless city, rich in history and culture, and a place longing for peace. Bursting with color and life, this artwork features a dove soaring above the ancient skyline, blending old and new and capturing dreams of harmony, unity and peace.

Encircled by Hebrew text, this "Tree of Life" draws upon ancient wisdom, grounding the tree in spiritual roots while its trunk and branches, made from the letter 'shin' representing G-d's name, reach upward, full of life and energy. The use of bright colors reflects a celebration of life's richness, diversity, and the endless cycles of renewal.

'The Spirit of Israel' This artwork celebrates the unity, resilience, and vibrant spirit of the people of Israel. A crowd waves their Israeli flags beneath the bold Hebrew words "Am Yisrael Chai" (The People of Israel Live), symbolizing hope and perseverance. The vibrant colors and scattered hearts reflect the love, collective strength, and boundless energy that define our people, even in the face of adversity.

This artwork is a celebration of our Israel Defense Forces (IDF). In the center, the emblem of the IDF stands out—a Star of David interlaced with a sword and olive branch, signifying the balance between defense and the pursuit of peace. This emblem is encircled with the prayer of protection for our soldiers who put their lives on the line to protect us.

The surrounding soldiers and security officers, are like rays of a sun, radiating outwards to protect the nation's borders. The flags of Israel add national pride and the dispersed hearts throughout, is a testament to the courage and dedication of the IDF soldiers, whose selfless acts are driven by love for their homeland and its people.

This piece created after the atrocities of the 7th October has 230 overlapping hearts, each one representing a different person that has been captured and held in Gaza (which has sadly gone up since my drawing). Each heart is a reminder that every life, no matter the circumstance, is intertwined in the fabric of our nation. Every heart is a testament to a life that beats with resilience and hope. Every heart is a story, every heart is a life, and every life matters.

These hearts converging around the Hebrew word 'Chai', meaning - 'life', is a powerful affirmation in the sanctity of life and our collective hope in the safe return of these hostages, as well as our soldiers, and a peaceful, brighter and united future ahead.

Just like the Torah is made up of so many letters—each one important on its own, but even more meaningful when joined with others—we too are part of something bigger when we all come together.

When we come together, we create something so much more powerful.

One of the Seven Species of Israel, the pomegranate, or Rimon in Hebrew, is a symbol of the New Year and fresh beginnings. Known for its abundance of seeds, we pray that like the Rimon our lives are also filled with plenty both in physical sustenance and in metaphorical blessings.

The bible tells how God created the world from nothing in just six days. He lovingly brought forth the land and the sea, the sun, moon and stars, plants, flowers and every living creature, finally placing man at the center. Michelle has wonderfully captured the creative energy and excitement of a world born new in this swirling kaleidoscope of colour and activity.

Ruler over Israel for forty years, King David would wander the hillsides composing heartfelt psalms in praise of G-d. In later years, his beloved harp was never far from his side and the beautiful notes he composed with it would rise up from his Jerusalem palace, spread through the city, and pierce the heavens.

In describing the extraordinary beauty and uniqueness of the Land of Israel, the bible recounts, “. . . a land of wheat and barley, vines, and figs pomegranates, a land of oil-producing olives and honey.” It is indeed a fruitful, blessed land and this painting is a tribute to abundance of all kinds.
